Hey there, Beatery Nation. Sorry for the lack of posts recently, it’s been a busy week for us all. We’ll return shortly to finish up SYTYCB 2010, to share some great new music from 2011 and, of course, to rock you with some brand new mixes. In the meantime, enjoy a recent set from the Stanton Warriors, recorded live at Avalon Hollywood. Cheers!

You guys! It’s podcast time.

Last Saturday I got to throw down with the Future Universal crew at one of San Francisco’s most notorious parties, the Burner-founded, mash-up extravaganza known as Bootie! It’s easy to sneer at the party as a bridge-and-tunnel cheap-thrill extravaganza but you can’t deny the vibe they create. Somehow they manage to do three Saturdays a MONTH and every weekend (including last) there was STILL a line around the corner at 1:45am! Say what you will about the attendees, but any DJ or promoter would kill for a crowd as psyched as that. Plus, while haters hate, a bunch of sweaty dancers are having way more fun anyway.

So! They also have a rotating side room and it was here that FUSF was allowed to steer the night towards clubland. This week’s podcast is my set from that night. It was performed with Traktor Pro, a midi controller, and the club’s mixer, so the levels are a bit rough here and there but in general it was probably the most fun I have ever had rocking a party. Just fyi: the volume cuts during This Is How We Do It were so the crowd could sing along, and sing they did! To recreate the effect, the lyrics are:

“This is how we do it!”
