DJ Cor - 7&7 (2001)

Breaks, DJ Cor, House, Prog. House

77

Today we have one of the few remaining DJ mixes from the DJ Cor vault. It was over a decade ago, but I do believe this was the mix I recorded after Bump, which makes it the first demo I ever laid down on CD. Apparently I had yet to get used to this strange new medium, as I still recorded two separate short sets like we did in the cassette days. Old habits die hard, I guess. Anyhow, the first “side” is good old fashion funky house, and the second is slightly more chill funky house. What range! There’s some classic tracks on here: Burnin’ by Daft Punk, Sing It Back by Moloko, Go Insane by… damn, I can’t remember. Don’t count on a tracklist for this one. Ten years was a long time ago, but the music still holds up. Let’s take a trip back…

Still a fun mix! I like the humming-organ-bass that finishes the last 5 minutes of Side A. Also appreciated the vocals there with repeating “go insane…go insane…go insane” I was groovin’!

Also really nice transition at 15mins on Side B to the Let’s Dance song…not sure if that is you or the song but it is a fun intro! D

fun fact: on the playa in 2000 there was nothing but trance, trance, and more trance. what were a couple of housecats to do? we wandered around sullenly ’til we discovered a camp playing mellow house grooves and the “go insane” track salvaged our week, music-wise. :)

  3. [...] Van Helden, Daft Punk. There are a ton of rare records in here. Style wise, the sound is heard in 7&7 Pt 1, Bump, and a lot of my earlier sets. (55 Records) 7&7 PART 1 [...]
