DJ Cor - Breakthru (2001)
Acid Breaks, Breaks, DJ Cor, DJ Sets, Electrohouse, Funky Breaks, Nu-Skool Breaks
Time to take a trip down memory lane. Breakthru marks my first foray into the new and exciting world of breakbeat, not to mention my first use of the requisite “breaks” pun.* There are some absolute classics in this one… some early Plump DJs, Timo Maas, Bassbin Twins, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, Fatboy Slim, the Plumps, Electroliners, and a think there are a few Plump DJs tracks in there as well. On second thought, I don’t know whether the fact that I’m still spinning several of these tracks today means they are absolute classics, or indicates that I really haven’t grown much as a DJ in the last 8 years. Maybe it’s both.

thanks for reintroducing this classic! it reminds me that before stanton warriors, there were the plump djs (and just in time for SYTYCB voting!).
Breakthru was the first disc cor ever gave me and to this day, I think it’s his best. I have all of his mixes and they’re all great but this one stands out above the rest. It was part of my car’s cd rotation for so long and listening to it today reminds me of those times. On the same day cor gave me breakthru he also gave me “a plump night out” since he played some of those tracks. Me being a breaks novice, I didn’t know the plump djs existed. It’s because of cor that I started listening to them along with some of the other dj/producers he featured on each release. Long live BREAKTHRU. Cor - I thank you.
the baron said it best, as usual! yay for breakthru and its DJ
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I just discovered that when I merged this set into one track I accidentally chopped out a few seconds in the transition to the last song. I guess that’s what I get for not listening to it all the way through before I put it up. I’ll have a fix up soon.
Set fixed. If you downloaded before, re-download now to get the full set.
[...] funky breaks, early Plump DJs, Stanton Warriors, DJ Icey, Fatboy Slim. The kind of stuff heard on Breakthru or Back in the Day. (50 records) BREAKTHRU [...]
Yay for funky breaks!! I’ve been going through collecting older funky breaks for our playa day parties so this is perfect
Awesome. Glad to see the I’ll still be making an appearance playa in some form this year.
