As promised here is my mash-up of “I’m Not Alone” by Calvin Harris, remixed by Deadmau5 (2009) and “Madagascar” by Art of Trance, the Ferry Corsten Remix (2001). I did this mash-up for my most recent podcast, and as I mentioned there the first time I heard “I’m Not Alone” I instantly thought of “Madagascar”. Is it a blatant bite?? I’m not sure… The Calvin Harris track is way more chill and has a significantly different bass line but on the other hand they are both in the identical key, have very similar melodic progression and it sure was easy to stick ‘em together. Why don’t we let you decide? Here’s my mashup for you guys to enjoy and disseminate at your will (just please keep thebeatery.com tag in there) and how about you vote: blatant rip off or not?

they both do seem to be begging for a mash-up, and it’s a nice blend of two catchy tracks. i really can’t get enough of madagascar tho, it’s just sooo good!
