Man, I always love World Cup time. And out here in Bolivia it’s waaaay more fun, ’cause, well, the Bolivian people actually care about soccer (as opposed to in the States where the people are clueless at best, and actively loathe soccer at the worst). Along with the games come the hype, and there’s no better administers of hype than the two big shoe/sporting goods companies endorsing this year’s Cup: Nike & Adidas.
They’ve come out guns blazing with two new adds that are, quite frankly, fantastic. Nike shows potential future outcomes of players as they do/don’t make plays on the pitch and Adidas re-interprets the famous Mos Eisley Cantina scene from Star Wars (IV), inserting their own sponsored athletes/musicians alongside Ben Kenobi, Han Solo and the like. I had no idea Adidas sponsored musicians, did you? And how hyped was I that the first ones on the screen were SYTYCB winners Daft Punk! Your welcome for the career bump.
Nike - Write The Future
Adidas - Star Wars Cantina 2010
Can you place the others? Snoop, Beckem and Daft Punk are obvious. But who are those guys throwing things? And the guy with the blaster? I guess I’m just not hip enough.
And just for good measure I thought I’d include the new Sasha track, as he releases new work about as often as the World Cup comes around. I was super surprised when I first heard it because it’s very housey, not at all like his recent more tech-minded efforts. It reminds me of a super well produced track that could have come out of his Live at Camden Palace set.
Enjoy, and happy World Cup! And just ’cause I’m curious, which add more awesomer??
